Resources

Safety & Support.

Your safety is the highest priority across every Impact Explorers programme. Here is exactly how we protect you, before, during and after your travel.

Before you travel

  • Comprehensive pre-departure pack — destination-specific health guidance, packing list, visa support, vaccination recommendations, cultural orientation and safety briefing
  • Dedicated advisor — a single point of contact at Impact Explorers from enquiry through to arrival
  • Vetted accommodation — every host family or volunteer house is audited annually for fire safety, security, hygiene and accessibility
  • Vetted partners — every in-country partner is independently checked for legitimacy, safeguarding standards and ethical practices
  • Mandatory insurance check — we verify each participant has comprehensive travel and medical insurance covering volunteer/clinical activities

During your programme

  • Airport pickup — included on every programme; you are met on arrival by your in-country team
  • In-country orientation — 1–2 days of safety briefing, local customs, transport guidance, and emergency procedures
  • 24/7 in-country support — your coordinator is reachable around the clock for emergencies
  • Established medical protocols — agreements with local hospitals and clinics, plus evacuation procedures if needed
  • Regular wellbeing check-ins — your coordinator checks in throughout your programme
  • Whatsapp group with cohort — instant access to fellow participants and the coordinator

If something goes wrong

Call your in-country coordinator first — they will coordinate with local services and our 24/7 UK HQ. The escalation chain:

  1. In-country coordinator (immediate)
  2. Country manager (within 30 minutes)
  3. Impact Explorers HQ on-call duty officer (24/7)
  4. Insurance assistance line (medical evacuations and major emergencies)

Safeguarding

We follow strict child and vulnerable-adult safeguarding policies. All staff and host partners working with children or vulnerable adults are subject to background checks. We never run “orphanage tourism” programmes. Concerns can be reported to info@impactexplorers.com.

Accreditations

Our safety standards are independently recognised:

  • GO Overseas Community Choice Awards 2022 — Top Rated for Safety
  • BETA — British Educational Travel Association member
  • The Forum on Education Abroad — member, following Standards of Good Practice
  • WYSETC — World Youth Student & Educational Travel Confederation
  • B Corp Certified — verified social and environmental performance

Insurance requirement

Every participant must hold comprehensive travel and medical insurance covering the duration of their programme. Insurance must cover: medical treatment, emergency evacuation, repatriation, personal liability and the specific activities of your programme (clinical work, conservation, etc.).
