About Impact Explorers

A group built around one idea:
travel should leave the world better.

We are a B Corp Certified group of two complementary brands — Volunteering Solutions and Med Trips — designing meaningful, community-led journeys for students, faculty and gap-year travelers.

Our story

18 years. 30+ countries. One standard.

What began in 2007 as a single volunteer program in India has grown into a group serving 25,000+ travelers across 30+ countries. Through Volunteering Solutions we deliver award-winning Volunteer Abroad placements. Through Med Trips we run rigorous Medical Internships Abroad for healthcare students.

Across both brands the standard is the same: community partners come first, programs are designed for genuine impact, and every traveler is supported end-to-end. Becoming B Corp Certified was the formal recognition of how we already operated.

01

Community-led

Every program is designed with local partners. Communities define the work — we provide the people, the funding and the structure.

02

Rigor over romance

We don’t sell adventure for adventure’s sake. Medical internships are clinically supervised. Volunteer roles are real, useful work.

03

Transparent impact

B Corp Certified, with annual impact reporting. We publish what works, what doesn’t, and where the money goes.

Our Story · Milestones

From one programme in India to 30+ countries.

A working timeline of how the group came together — and the partnerships and standards we picked up along the way.

2007

Volunteering Solutions founded in India

The first cohort of volunteers arrives in New Delhi. The brand grows from a single in-country team to a network of host partners across India and, over the following years, into a multi-country operation anchored by long-term local partner organisations.

2009

Full membership of WYSE

Volunteering Solutions is admitted as a full member of WYSE Travel Confederation — the global trade body for youth, student and educational travel. The first of many independent accreditations and the start of a long relationship with the international youth-travel industry.

2019

Head office relocates to the United Kingdom

The company moves its head office to London. The UK becomes the operational HQ for Volunteering Solutions (and later Med Trips and Impact Explorers Ltd), alongside our long-standing in-country teams across Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America.

2022

GO Overseas “Top Rated for Safety”

Recognised in the GO Overseas Community Choice Awards for our safety standards — independent participant-rated recognition of how we run pre-departure briefings, in-country support and emergency protocols.

2025

Med Trips launches

A dedicated brand for healthcare students offering Medical Internships Abroad. Clinical placements are supervised, logged and credit-ready from day one — built for medicine, nursing, dental, and allied-health students.

2025

Members of The Forum on Education Abroad

Membership of The Forum on Education Abroad — the standard-setting body for the international education field — formalises our alignment with the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad.

2025

BETA Bronze Award · Ethical, Responsible & Sustainable Tourism

Recognised at the British Youth Travel Awards 2025 for our work on ethical, responsible and sustainable tourism — a category we’d been working toward formally for years.

2026

Impact Explorers Ltd · B Corp Certified

The two brands consolidate under a single B Corp Certified parent group, with a verified B Impact Score of 88.2 — well above the certification threshold and the median for ordinary businesses.

A note from the founder

We started in 2007 because the industry felt broken — too many programmes that flew strangers into communities, took photos, and left nothing behind. Eighteen years later, the standard we hold ourselves to is simple: the work has to be real, the community has to lead, and the impact has to be measured. Everything else is decoration.

How we’re built

Structural decisions you can hold us to.

Three commitments built into how the company is structured — not marketing copy, but operational and legal facts about the entity.

01

Long-term local partnerships

We work with NGOs and community organisations as long-term partners, not transactional suppliers. We decline placements where we can’t establish a multi-year relationship anchored by a named local lead — the people doing the work, not a middleman.

02

Transparent impact & fees

Programme fee breakdowns, partner contributions and impact outcomes are reported annually as part of our B Corp filing. Our overall B Impact Score is 88.2, with the full pillar-by-pillar breakdown published on bcorporation.net — including the areas we still need to improve.

03

Founder-led, mission-locked

Impact Explorers Ltd is a Certified B Corporation — not a private-equity roll-up of volunteer brands. Our mission is legally protected in our articles of association, so the company cannot be sold to a buyer who would compromise the standards behind it.
